Paint Ideas for 2023

Paint Color Trends

A common question from many of my customers is, “what colors are in this year?”  and “what’s the trend for this year?”

Whether its just one room or the whole house you may want to pay attention to the hottest trends of 2023 that will give you that fresh look in your home that will anchor your future choices in the latest style.

Over the last few years color trends have remained neutral and designers have shied away from bold colors and accent walls seeking more flow than making a statement.  Furniture, artwork, and accessories have been used to make statements more than wall color.  Nonetheless every space is different and many are limited with there furniture and accessory choices.  Below are some of the emerging trends by color of 2014.

Blue:

Blue is a versatile color than can bring a very calming effect and is commonly used in bedrooms and bathrooms.  Consider calming pastel blue or a deep dark blue for a bathroom.  Benjamin Moore’s Van Deusen Blue is a favorite with dark blue-green with a grayish tone.  Bedrooms and bathrooms can stand alone in there colors and don’t necessarily have to flow with rest of the house.  Blues will definitely be popular in coming year.

Gray:

Gray has been a popular color in large spaces and office and commercial applications.  Its a good choice if you want the focus to be on your decor and have bold statements to make with your furniture or artwork.  You don’t have to stick with just gray consider grays with earthy tinge such as Benjamin Moore’s Wickham Gray.  Neutral colors in the gray color scheme can work great in different spaces and will definitely be a part of the color trends in 2014.

Bright colors:

Accent walls are still being considered by some designers for certain situations and when chosen correctly can make a good statement to an otherwise bland house.  Make sure the color you choose ties in with existing decor such as cabinets, flooring or furniture overtures.  It can be intimidating choosing a bright color but the payoff can be huge.  Don’t be afraid to take your time and even get sample paint to see how it will actually look on your wall.

Black and white basics:

There always be a time and place for black and whites in any decorating scheme.  Keep your whites to mainly to your ceilings, trim and doors to bring out the colors of your walls and ‘frame in the picture’.  Blacks should be used only on bookshelves and furniture but never over a large space.  Subdued soft whites such as “Cloud White” from Benjamin Moore is a very popular off white for ceilings and trim and usually covers exceptionally well over the more stark whites.
